22nd January 2014

The 2014 Classic Yearling sale showed promising results especially the clearance rate. Fairhill Farm sold both its entries, a colt by I Am Invincible ex Alpha Gun for $65k to Chinese buyers that may stay in Australia and a filly by Magic Albert ex Versatile Lady for $22k to South African buyers (Balmoral Stud) through Paul Guy's Heritage Bloodstock. Thanks to all concerned from us at Fairhill Farm.

5th January 2014

What a great start to 2014. The farm has had 3 winners in the first 4 days of the year with Senglea Sun, Luming Up and Octavius winning. Another ran second yesterday in New Zealand, The Likely One.

2nd January 2014

The young sire, I Am Invincible has started his career in exciting fashion. He has 4 stakes performers already, and 4 winners. The farm is lucky enough to have 4 foals by him on the ground, 3 mares in foal to him, and 1 yearling going to the 2014 Inglis Classic sale. It is early days but one would have thought that his progeny would better suited as older horses. We will watch this sire with interest.

4th December 2013

The final positive for the farm owned mares was received today and it was pleasing to have it to the champion Pierro.

Our season went particularly well with 3 positives from covers on the 1st September 2013. 12 farm mares were served in September, a further 2 in October and 2 in November. The farm mares have visited and are in foal to the following stallions Pierro 1, So You Think 3, Redoute's Choice 1, High Chaparral 1, Encosta De Lago 2, Magic Albert 3, Smart Missile 2, Choisir 1, Hinchinbrook 2, I Am Invincible 3, Not a Single Doubt 1, Excelabration 2.

We are looking forward to next August.

Campbell Fever loses her battle

Campbell Fever at 23 last year, 2012

Campbell Fever passed away this afternoon. She was 24 and had 15 foals over her breeding life. She was a Group performing winner of 3 races and the daughter of Midnight Fever, the winner of the Group 1 Blue Diamond. Her last foal is a colt by I Am Invincible, who is doing very well. Campbell was the dam of Stakes winner Woppitt and Group performers Swinging Bachelor and Dane Fever. She was also the grandam of Group performer Lamarr. Campbell has 3 foals on the ground that are still unnamed that could add to her impressive family record, a 2yo filly by Haradasun, a colt by Time Thief and a colt by I Am Invincible. The Time Thief colt sold at this years Inglis weanling sale for $58k

I Am Invincible first winner

I Am Invincible had his first winner today in the first 2yo race of the season in Australasia. One cannot have a better start than that. The farm has 1 yearling by I Am Invincible who sells at the 2014 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale. We have 3 foals arriving this year, 2 of which have arrived already, a colt out of Campbell Fever and a filly out of Our Scene Steeler. The other mare due to foal to him this year is Now Now. Now Now is by Danehill Dancer, the same damsire as the winner in New Zealand. Three mares visit IAI this year. They are Our Scene Steeler, I'm a Thunder and Lady Charlotte.

11th September 2013

Femina Fashion has first foal

2013 Femina Fashion/ Redoutes Choice colt

What a cracker for a first foal. Jemma, as she is named by the owners, had her first foal tonight and he certainly has some size and scope. Femina Fashion is a stakes winner of 6 races herself and she is a half sister to dual Group 1 winner in South Africa, Happy Archer. She is by Shamardal. Jemma goes back to Redoutes this year.

8th September 2013

All dry mares have now been served for the first time, quite incredible! We have served 16 mares so far. That includes 2 wet mares.

6th September 2013

Spottswoode has a filly by Magic Albert

2013 Spottswoode/ Magic Albert filly

Spottswoode has had a filly, very much in the mould of herself and her Reset 2yo daughter. She will make an excellent racehorse which is what its all about.

4th September 2013

Djinda has her first foal

2013 Djinda/ Magic Albert colt

Djinda, by Exceed and Excel, has had her first foal (a colt) by Magic Albert. He is the same Danehill/Zedative cross that has been so successful in Australia. Djinda hails from the family of Danehill and has Cosmah as her 3rd dam. Djinda, herself a winner, is also a half sister to multiple stakes winner Litter.

30th August 2013

Campbell Fever has another lovely colt

2013 Campbell Fever / I Am Invincible colt

Campbell Fever has had her last foal. At 24 she has decided to retire. Her last foal is no lessor specimen than any of her others. She has had no less than 15 foals! Quite an achievement. Arthritis stops her from having another. She is a fertile as she has ever been. The colt has the same nature as his mother. We are expecting 4 I Am Invincibles and we hope they all as good as the first 2 this year.

27th August 2013

Foal for Group placed Our Scene Steeler

2013 Our Scene Steeler/ I Am Invincible filly

This I Am Invincible filly is a cracker. Her mother goes back to I Am Invincible after this filly was born. One couldn't do anything else/ Look at her! Our Scene Steeler is by Danasinga and the resulting foal is 4x4 to Danzig.

15th August 2013

Kumu Hula to visit Encosta de Lago

The daughter of dual Group 1 winning mare Love Dance, Kumu Hula will visit Encosta de Lago this year for her second time to a stallion. The exciting prospect is described below. Dual Group 1 winner, De Lago Delux is out of a Flying Spur mare by Encosta de Lago! There are no less than 14 Encosta De Lago stakes winners out of Danehill line mares. Aloha and Delago Delux are Group 1 winners.

15th August 2013

First foal arrives for a daughter of dual Group 1 mare, Love Dance.

2013 Kumu Hula /Magic Albert colt

This colt is only 2 hours old here and he's by that great sire of runners Magic Albert. There's a lot of leg with this fella, so there's a bit of Flying Spur coming through. Kumu Hula did not race due to cracking a bone in her hind leg. Watch this bloke fill out in the coming weeks.

This fellow has no less than 12 crosses of Nearco in his first 8 dams. He is 5x5 to Raise a Native, through the dam sires of Zedative and Flying Spur, 6x6 to Ribot, through His Majesty (Danehill's damsire) and School for Scandal, Magic Albert's great grandam. Stakes winner Al Be Nimble by Magic Albert is out of a Danehill mare and there are another 6 Zedative line horses out of Danehill line mares, including Group 1 winners Altered Image and Meurice.

Kumu Hula visits Encosta De Lago this year. Encosta is the same family as Flying Spur and has worked well doubling up the family in Australia. The result will be 3x3 inbred to Rolls, the grandam of Encosta de Lago, and the dam of Flying Spur, Kumu Hula's sire. Both Encosta De Lago and Flying Spur have been Champion sires in Australia. Flying Spur won the Slipper as well! What an exciting prospect awaits us next year.

13th August 2013

Stratance to visit Hinchinbrook.

Stratance's foal has gone ahead in leaps and bounds. She is a very nice filly with the strength of Stratum. She is a bay and has probably thrown more to the dam side than Husson. Either way, there is plenty to be happy about. Husson carries Mr Prospector twice in his pedigree through Hussonet and Fappiano. Nijinsky is carried through the fillies sire by Husson's grandam Weekend Dancer and through Dancing Show, Redoute's Choice's grandam. 2 of Hussons stakes winners so far have come out of Redoute's Choice mares and another has come from a Flying Spur mare. Two more stakes performers have come from a Fastnet Rock and a Danzero mare! This filly has all that's needed to make her something special. Affable and Hussousa are stakes winners bred on the same cross.

Stratance will visit Hinchinbrook this season giving the result a double of Danehill through his best 2 sons, Fastnet Rock and Rodoute's Choice. The result will also carry Lunchtime through Snippets and Canny Lad's dam, Jesmond Lass.It doesn't stop there, with Sir Tristram through 2 of his best sons also, in Marauding and Kaapstad. Nijinsky II is carried through Fastnet Rock's damsire and Redoute's Choice's grandam. There are many many more interesting parts to this pedigree.

A photo of her as a new born can be viewed further down.

1st August 2013

2013 Stratance/Husson filly

First foal arrives at Fairhill. It is by Husson out of Stratance and its a filly. The filly's dam, Stratance, is out of Love Dance, a dual Group 1 winner and she is by Stratum.

Not A Single Doubt

Not A Single Doubt has been good to the farm recently. We have had good results in the sales ring and good results on the track. What more could one ask for? We have only 1 weanling by him and 1 mare foaling to him this season, but 2 mares booked for this season.

Magic Albert

It is interesting to note that Magic Albert has had 2 stakes winning 2yo fillies this season. We think that he will show even more over the next couple of years as the quality of mare that visited him has improved heaps! And he's had over 100 wins this season. We have 5 weanlings by him in the paddock, 4 mares in foal to him and 4 mares booked to him.

1st July 2013

What a run by Desert Fox last night! The horse, ridden by Corey Brown, settled last, after drawing the outside, and then sat 3 and 4 wide to the straight, before running on to win very easily. Somewhere the saddle slipped but it made no apparent difference to Corey.

The farm has a weanling full sister to Desert Fox out of Sandy Desert. She is a chestnut and looks very much in the mould of the sire's dam sire, Rory's Jester. There has been interest in the filly but if she does not sell before, then she will go to Inglis Melbourne at this stage.

Sandy Desert is a half sister to Desert End and Desert End holds the record for yearling price off the farm. Margham holds that distinction as she was sold to Jack and Bob Ingham at the Inglis Easter yearling sale for $700k through the draft of Yarraman Park. When Jack and Bob sold to Darley, the mare went with the sale and while she was Group placed, unfortunately we didn't see the best of her because she was beset by injury in her career. Margham has since had 2 foals, a yearling colt by Exceed and Excel and a weanling filly by Medaglia D'Oro.

It is said that the yearling colt has already visited Peter Snowden at Crown Lodge Stables for the third time to further his education. All going well we may see him early!! Watch out for him. He has been named Mohave. What a great opportunity Margham will have with her first being by the great 2yo sire Exceed and Excel. Another plus is that she is back in foal to Exceed and Excel on a September cover. We wish Darley well. No one puts as much into the industry as they do.

Getting back to Sandy Desert, unfortunately she was not served last year so the farm will have to wait for her next colt for another year at least. Desert End is in foal though. She is in foal to the exciting sire, Hinchinbrook. Hinchinbrook is from the same female family as both Desert End and Sandy Desert. He traces to their third dam Scotch Verdict. Don't forget that this is also the family of Valid Appeal, a champion USA sire and sire of sires. He hails from our mare second dam Desert Trial. It doesn't stop there as Real Shadai, a champion Japanese sire, is also out of a alf sister to Desert End's dam.

Desert End's Encosta De Lago yearling this year went to South Africa to the bid of Form Bloodstock. Her 2yo is with Kris Lees and is a filly by Encosta de Lago, named Mitzi. That makes her a full sister to Margham.

Last but certainly not least, Desert Foxes full brother who is a yearling this year, sold to Ricky Yiu from Hong Kong. The colt was sold by Fairhill Farm as a weanling, through the Inglis Weanling sale, to bloodstock agent Paul Willetts, who purchased him on behalf of Three Bridges farm in Melbourne. We look forward to seeing both these colts perform in the next 12/18 months.

Fairhill sold the all time record priced Not a Single Doubt at the same sale for $300k out of Euchre. The colt went to the bid of Tony Pike and it is believed he enters the stable of champion trainer, Chris Waller.

20th June 2013

What a thrill it was to get a quinella at Taree today. The filly that won, Caesarissa, has an interesting pedigree in that she is inbred to Fanfreluche 3x4. She is the first foal of Mis Excitabull, a mare that we purchased from the Keenlands broodmare sale in November 2007. The filly is a horse that needs time and she will only get better. She has a 3/4 brother by Fastnet Rock that is a rising 3yo unraced with David Hayes called Empire Rock. The weanling colt out of the mare is by Hinchinbrook and the mare visits Encosta de Lago this year.

Clevedon Court was purchased from us by Craig Thompson of Racenet from the Inglis Melbourne Premier sale. He was a little unlucky and ran Caesarissa to 0.1 lengths. Clevedon Court is out of group placed Clevedon. He won't be far away from winning. Clevedon is in foal to Not a Single Doubt and has a weanling by Magic Albert.

11th June 2013

Welcome to our blog page which we have just installed. As time goes by we will give news on here that is unrelated to the News, which we will keep to News of winners bred and raised on the farm.
